I hope to get a few more of these Daily Doses out but if not I've really enjoyed watching the videos myself and thanks for the kind comments. I've donated as much time as possible to the Obama campaign over the last year or so, somewhat neglecting my photography business but I don't regret one minute.

After this election I'll need to get back to working on the bottom line for my business but with an Obama win on Tuesday I believe this nation will be led by the best person possible in getting it's bottom line back in order over the next 4 or 8 years.

Again thanks for the comments on the video blog posts. I'm with all the rest of the Obama supporters who I know will be doubling down their efforts this final week to not only try to ensure a victor for Barack Obama on November 4th but also a successful day for Congressional elections throughout the nation to give the Obama administration the help and backing they will need from the House and Senate.

The past 7 plus years has been one of the biggest nightmares in American history and in my mind the most disastrous and dangerous administration in our nation's history. In 8 days we have the opportunity to finally begin to wake up from that long nightmare and wake up to the beginning of some of the best days in our nation's history.

Wake up to ending two wars. Wake up to the end of 50 million Americans uninsured. Wake up to the end of warrantless searches of American citizens. Wake up to the end of American involvement in torture. Wake up to the end forever of American initiated wars of choice and wars of so called preemption. Wake up to the end of Americans floating helpless, some dead, in the streets following natural disasters. Wake up to the end of a mindless administration cloaked in secrecy abusing the executive privilege claims to hide their actions. These things MUST NEVER EVER again be allowed to occur in this country.

Sorry, just had another thought or two I'd like to add. I really believe if elected then in 50 or so years from now Senator Obama will be looked back upon as being one of the best leaders our country and the world has ever had. Someone who came on the national and international scene at such a critical time.

A time which has so many seemingly dismal political leaders. Of course America's leadership in the Executive Branch the past 7 years has been worse than awful. But also worldwide competent leadership seems to have been in a void. Putin in Russia seems to me to be just KGB wanna-be politician. I'm not a big fan of Sarkozy in France. I think Royal would have been a better choice. Hopefully an Obama win could lead to a wave of quality leaders in other nations.

The citizens of the world deserve better political leaders than we've had in recent times. Hopefully in a few days we in America can began to get the kind of leadership we must have to face 21st century problems.

Wow, I'm still in shock and had to change the title to this post after just minutes ago getting the news of today's ABC/Washington Post presidential poll. Stunning. We knew over the past couple of weeks Senator Obama has had almost a daily rise in the polls but Holy Widening Gap Batman, who would have expected this? Okay, calm down Steve, calm down. The election isn't today, it's 40 days from now so I know I have to keep doing ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I can in support of the good Senator from Illinois as I know tens of millions of Obama supporters across the nation know they have to do up until November 4th, 2008.

No, the quotes in the headline aren't my quotes. They are from

Time Magazine "one of the sleaziest ads... ever seen"

I'm a very strong supporter of Senator Obama but even I haven't used those words except I have said that many of the things McCain has ran in his ads about Obama are lies which is accepted by almost all non-partisan media now as just fact. You can put lipstick on a lie but it's still a lie.

But enough is enough and I think this little episode in this campaign is coming to an end and in the days to come THERE WILL BE NO HIDING FROM THE ISSUES for Senator McCain. Senator Obama won't allow it and most of all the majority of the American citizens won't allow it.

Great news yesterday for Obama supporters with the announcement of the record breaking $66 million in August and another 500,000 new donors. Barack's national poll numbers have been steadily increasing the past few days. He was back in the lead on one of the three major national polls released yesterday.

I'm hoping by the end of this week he'll be back in the lead in all the national polls. Back in the lead FOR GOOD this time. I don't think McSame has any more gimmicks to play the next time he falls behind 5 to 10 points.

Daily Dose of Obama Vids -- Episode #52, Republicans for Obama

We all know there was a disappointing poll or two out today with one showing Senator Obama down 10 to McCain. Remember, we were down 30 at one point in the primary. The 10 point poll was in all likelihood an outlier but there's no doubt the race is back to a toss up at this point.

What's to look forward to?

Sarah Palin will have to answer questions from the media soon. We'll see what the undecided voters think when she's off script.

On October 10 the results of the Palin troopergate investigation are scheduled to be released.

Of course this race is Obama vs McCain not Obama vs Palin and there are three McCain/Obama debates coming up in the next few weeks. I feel very good about the American people getting to see Barack and McCain side by side debating. Very, very good about that. Unless something unforeseen happens between now and November I tend to believe there will be nothing that will play a bigger part in who the president will be the next 4 years than the debates.

And the future of America and it's citizens will be the benefactor of that outcome.

Double your efforts. I'll be doubling mine. The Republicans have now played all their cards. They changed the face of the messenger but they didn't change the message. When that fact is realized by the American voters over the next week or two then Senator Obama's campaign will be right back where we want it to be and we'll be only weeks away from finishing what Senator Obama and his supporters started so many months ago.

On November 4th, 2008 the American voters will make a choice that will be heard and cheered not only in America but around the world and how I so look forward to once again living in the nation that is the most admired in the world not the most despised in the world as George Bush and Dick Cheney have made us.

After a couple of months off I believe it's time to bring back the Daily Dose. I've been a STRONG Obama supporter for president for about the past two years or so. I'll have to admit I didn't know if he could get the Democratic nomination with the respected Clintons to run against. But he did. Have I been overconfident in the general against John McSame. Yes, I'll admit I have. But we're now in the home stretch and just as I donated about an hour a day netrooting in support of Senator Obama in the primary I will now do the same until November 4th. When I started these I said I'd try to keep them going until Senator Obama was the "official" nominee of the Democratic party. Missed some days here and there but have tried to keep my word. If today or later this week Barack does become the "official" nominee I may take a couple months off from the daily videos diary but I think I'd like to possibly start it up again with a couple of months to go in the general election. Thanks for all the nice comments and tips. I've just tried to do my small part like tens of millions of others have in trying to do what we can to help put a competent and talented person in the White House. Today are a few of what I would call "all-star videos", at least for me, from and about the good Senator from Illinois.

Video #4: Oh what a night! The Iowa victory speech. January 3rd, 14 minutes. I think perhaps this night more than any other was when myself, like I'm sure many others, really, really began to believe it could happen.

Video #5: Ted Kennedy endorsement January 28th at American University. I believe I heard Senator Kennedy's doctor say yesterday after the surgery that after about 24 hours had passed he would have a much better idea of how the surgery went. Let's hope for good news later today. (18min)

Myself like most others have gone out of our way to not be too critical of Hillary the past couple of months, ever since after early March when it began to be apparent that Senator Obama would be the eventual nominee. Yes I've tried because I know Barack will need the wind of the entire Democratic party at his back in the general election. But... please allow me this one digression. Ran across a video today titled "Young Hillary Clinton." I thought it was funny and clever and not overly critical of the Senator from New York. Perhaps a bit of humor is just the medicine to forgive and forget and let bygones be bygones. Enough chatter, on to the video. (3min)

I know many in the Jewish community across the nation have been a bit hesitant about coming on board in full support of Senator Obama. I'm hope I'm not insulting anyone by me saying this but probably for a certain small percentage getting past Senator Obama's name has been something of a challenge. The first question Senator Obama got at the townhall meeting in Boca a gentleman said a friend of his told him "if Barack Obama would change his name to Barry, I would vote for him." As you will see if you watch the 3rd video he handled it BEAUTIFULLY! (USA Today column about the question) I believe Senator Obama's talk and question and answer session yesterday in Boca Raton will resonate positively throughout the Jewish community across the nation and could be the beginning of a new era of dialog, support and cooperation between Senator Obama and the American Jewish community for the next 8 years.

I included a 10 minute segment of Senator Obama's talk in Boca Raton in yesterday's diary but ran across the entire 30 minutes or so on youtube and have included all of that today.

I have tried to be as respectful and civil as possible to Senator McCain because somehow I thought he might, MIGHT, actually not run a gangster campaign as Repubs have done in recent years. After recent comments from McCain it is now obvious he is nothing more than another say-anything, do-anything, political candidate. Gloves are off and a terrific and quick response from Senator Obama today on the recent Bush/McCain lies.

If America is wise enough to elect Senator Obama as its next president for the next 4 or 8 years an important part of an Obama administration will be restoring respect for America throughout the world. A large part of the task of restoring respect to America will be dealing with the issue of torture.

Getting the facts of what actually happened and then if, and how, to hold accountability. If the courts decide that war crimes are committed then I don't really see how we can justify not holding those responsible accountable. We can never regain the respect of the international community if we are seen as a nation that is a harborer of war criminals.

On this issue British Professor of International Law at University College of London, Philippe Sands, recently testified before Congress.

Professor Sands also met with the New America Foundation on May 6th along with former Chief of Staff to Colin Powell, Lawrence Wilkerson. The clip is about 90 minutes long but if you're really, really interested in this issue I think you'll find this very worthwhile and interesting. About 24 minutes in Professor Sands briefly mentions Senator Obama and the role he thinks his administration would play and he again talks about the role of an Obama administration in the last few minutes of the video.

These numbers have been bouncing around several websites the past few hours but in case you missed the final official vote totals in Indiana had Senator Obama within 1% 626,642 or 49.6% to Clintons 637,814 or 50.4%. Now we see why everyone but CBS saw this as too close to call until about 99% of the votes were in.

I watched this a few months back but enjoyed watching again, noticed several interesting things that kind of slipped past me before. I'm still amazed at how he went from where he was to where he is. I can only see it as a combination of possessing perhaps one of the most unique and magnificent combinations of character and intelligence of any politician or person in American history.

I said early on I'd keep doing this diary at least until Barack was the official nominee of the Democratic party. Was kind of hoping today might be the day... didn't happen... maybe on May 6th.

Video #1: MSNBC political analyst Chuck Todd says after seeing the results of the voting in Pennsylvania that Barack Obama will win the race for pledged delegates.

Video #2: Barack addresses a crowd Tuesday night in beautiful Evansville, Indiana, only about 80 miles up the road from me. If I'd have know he was going to be there I would have likely made the drive.

Video #3 Charlie Rose interview, 10-19-2006: I have tivo'd the Charlie Rose show for 3 or 4 years and this interview is when I started following Senator Obama and doing what netrooting I could to satisfy myself that I had done my part to hopefully help the Senator possibly become the next president. This was on October 19th, 2006 and in my mind at the time there was little doubt that he was likely the most capable person to be the next occupant of the Oval Office. I'll have to admit though, I certainly had my doubts that Barack would ever get where he now is. But as Michelle Obama said, I have never been more proud of my country as I am now for the support that has rallied around Senator Obama. It's 56 minutes long, if you've never seen it and don't have time now to watch it I'll give you my guarantee that if you make time later you won't be disappointed.

I agree with Josh Marshall that basically tonights results would do nothing for momentum for either campaign. I suppose in a way it's great for Hillary as she can get enough out of it to continue on and hope (false hope?) for a miracle. For Barack now one major political analyst has said that the race for pledged delegates is over and he is the winner. Look for more big time pundits to be saying the same thing in the coming two weeks and look for Barack to pick up more super delegates than Hillary between now and May 6th. All in all I'd say not that bad of a day at the office.

Video #3: Okay, I beforehand will apologize 3 times already for this video. I'm not even entirely sure that the creators didn't even take a quick jab at Barack in it... but... I admire creativity and levity and I don't think anyone can deny the producers of this video do not have one or both. Don't take it serious. Just watch and move on. And if you're a Hillary supporter, I love you, I love Hillary, but I am so ready for Barack to be able to go mano-a-mano with McBush. The Democratic primary has run its course and unless there's a big, big Clinton win today then each day the contest continues will only make it incrementally more difficult for Democrats to win in November.

By the way PBS Frontline this week had a great story on how health care in the U.S. compares to other countries. To me the documentary was FANTASTIC and gives a glimpse of what we could have (and I believe will have) if Barack is elected. It can be viewed online at the website link.

You know, I've tried to be kind in my reference to Senator Clinton over the past couple of months. I know Barack will need the support of the entire Democratic party to win in November. I feel that ANY and ALL candidates should do what is best for the party. That being said if Senator Clinton decides to stay in the race for an extended period of time I would hope someone close to her, very soon, would call her to the side and strongly suggest to her that for her best long time political interest and the current best interest of the Democratic party, that for the rest of her campaign, she should focus her attacks at the Republican nominee -- not Senator Obama.

First of all, I DIDN'T watch tonight's debate. Several months ago my stomach decided it couldn't take anything with Stephanopoulos involved. Okay, I'll admit I did TIVO it and thought I might, MIGHT, go back and catch a few highlights. Boys, after reading a few post-debate diaries at Kos and a few other sites I just deleted the tivo debate file. Alright, enough on that, on to tonights videos... and I PROMISE, Charlie Rose or Stephanopoulos are not ANYwhere in ANY of the videos.

Video #1: Report by Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. Actual video footage of Barack playing basketball in high school and recent basketball video, very cool. Brings back some personal memories for me, Obama and I are the same age and I also played high school basketball. This is one of my favorite interviews and video I've ever seen of Barack. (14min)

Pennsylvania, you can SHOCK the nation and the world on April 22nd. That's all I'll say about that for now. Many of my fellow Obama supporters have told me time and time again to keep expectations low so I'm doing my best to do that. I also think that to disregard, what I perceive, as a real possibility to end this Democratic nomination next Tuesday could be a mistake. At this point I believe it's gone on long enough and the sooner it ends the better and the sooner Barack and the Democratic party can put time, money and energy 100% toward John McBush, the better.

Video #2: Michelle in Raleigh at NC State on April 8th. Okay, I'll say it, Barack is the reason I've spent a lot of time doing whatever I can to help get him in the Oval Office for 8 years but Mrs. Obama is QUITE impressive and I believe if she gets the opportunity to be the First Lady of the United States for 8 years that she will be a HUGE asset to our nation and a GREAT ambassador for America throughout the world. Will she reach the cachet of Jackie Kennedy... I don't know... but I do believe she would likely become the most respected, effective and accomplished First Lady since Mrs. Kennedy. No disrespect to ah... well you know who.

Video #3: The title of this video is (White Haired Women for Barack Obama). Oh you got to love it. Before all is said and done there perhaps will not have been a politician in American history who will have crossed so many barriers and brought so many together. (30sec)

More good news yesterday with Barack continuing to hold big leads in national polls.

Video #1: Senator Obama says "Same work, same pay" in Harrisburg Pa on March 30th, 2008. He says "I want my two daughters to have the same rights and the same opportunities they would have if I had two sons." I'm somewhat of an amateur history buff and have spent a considerable amount of time reading and watching about past American leaders. I think there's only been a handful who have ever spoken so clearly and so profoundly on such a wide range of issues as Senator Obama. This nation has experienced it's worth drought of leadership in our history during the past 7 plus years. Thankfully it seems as though the rains of competent leadership are on the horizon. I've said before, and I really believe it, in decades to come I think Senator Obama will be talked about when historians speak of the great American leaders such as Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, John Kennedy, etcetera.

Daily Dose of Obama Vids (Episode #12)

I've done several of these Obama video diaries but this one is my favorite so far. I really enjoyed all three of these and I believe you will too.

Video #1: This one threw me for a minute but after it hit me what it was I found it really creative and inspiring. It's Barack's 2002 Iraq speech. My understanding is that all of the video from the speech is likely gone except for the first 13 seconds or so which are shown in this video. The rest of this video are people throughout the country completing the speech using the text of Barack's actual speech. Oh my gosh, if only, IF ONLY, the rest of the actual video from this speech could someday be recovered. (2min)

Video #2: I try to keep them short, usually 10 minutes or less but this is a brilliant speech from the Senator yesterday in North Carolina. If not for his historical speech on Tuesday then this one would be getting a LOT more DESERVED attention. It's 32 minutes but I believe you will think it well worth your time. Quote from the speech "The judgment to go to war can never be undone".

The Boston Globe's Scott Helman wrote a column titled, "Many voting for Clinton to boost GOP".

For a party that loves to hate the Clintons, Republican voters have cast an awful lot of ballots lately for Senator Hillary Clinton: About 100,000 GOP loyalists voted for her in Ohio, 119,000 in Texas, and about 38,000 in Mississippi, exit polls show.

A sudden change of heart? Hardly.

"It's as simple as, I don't think McCain can beat Obama if Obama is the Democratic choice," said Kyle Britt, 49, a Republican-leaning independent from Huntsville, Texas, who voted for Clinton in the March 4 primary. "I do believe Hillary can mobilize enough [anti-Clinton] people to keep her out of office."

"I want our party to win. I want the Democrats to lose," Limbaugh said. "They're in the midst of tearing themselves apart right now. It is fascinating to watch. And it's all going to stop if Hillary loses."

He added, "I know it's a difficult thing to do to vote for a Clinton, but it will sustain this soap opera, and it's something I think we need."

From this Obama supporter's perspective Saturday was a very, very good day for Barack. This is a diary dedicated to a few of Barack's latest video clips but I HAVE to include the following statement yesterday from the Chicago Tribune (full column). Once again he's proven his character and intelligence to me with the way he has handle the recent bumps in the road on his way to 8 years in the White House.

When we endorsed Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination Jan. 27, we said we had formed our opinions of him during 12 years of scrutiny. We concluded that the professional judgment and personal decency with which he has managed himself and his ambition distinguish him.

Nothing Obama said in our editorial board room Friday diminishes that verdict.

We said in that same editorial that Obama had been too self-exculpatory in explaining away his ties to Tony Rezko. And we've been saying since Nov. 3, 2006 -- shortly after the Tribune broke the story of Obama's house purchase -- that Obama needed to fully explain his Rezko connection. He also needed to realize how susceptible he had been to someone who wanted a piece of him -- and how his skill at recognizing that covetousness needed to rise to the same stature as his popular appeal.

Friday's session evidently fulfills both obligations. Might we all be surprised by some future disclosure? Obama's critics have waited 16 months for some new and cataclysmic Rezko moment to implicate and doom Obama. It hasn't happened....

...Barack Obama now has spoken about his ties to Tony Rezko in uncommon detail. That's a standard for candor by which other presidential candidates facing serious inquiries now can be judged.

It will be nice when January 20, 2009 gets here so Obama can finally begin to use his time and energy to try to get some of the nation's problems repaired instead of having to spend his time on the crap that's going on now. I can only hope that enough of the American people can see through the sewer politics and unlike 2000 and 2004, this time elect someone with competence to lead the nation.
